Azure OSS App Modernization: 3-wk Assessment

This assessment will help you effectively plan and budget for migrating existing OSS applications to Microsoft® Azure® using a formalized migration plan. Our team employs Insight’s application rationalization process for defining groupings of source applications based on the stack (LAMP, MEAN, etc.) and/or application architecture (monolith, n-tier, microservices, etc.). For each group, we determine the migration process, roadmap and effort (12-factor model refactoring, cloud landing zone definition, etc.).

What to expect...

CLIENT PREP (before assessment begins)

• Identify SMEs with detailed knowledge of application architectures, hardware/software dependencies, system dependencies, security, etc.
• Collect available architecture diagrams and documentation
• Prepare access to development environments, source code, & CI/CD pipelines, if available

PROJECT KICKOFF

• Introductions & process overview
• Initiation call with project sponsor and participants
• Distribute application architecture questionnaire

ASSESSMENT

• Identify existing OSS applications (MEAN or LAMP stack) and review portfolio
• Review business strategy & application questionnaires
• Application owner interviews & migration workshops
• Code review & static code analysis

MIGRATION PLAN REVIEW

• Review recommendations and present migration plan roadmap
